PM received a grant for common PhD with Hasselt University on multiple sclerosis

The titel of the grant is  ‘New kids on the block: Improving the care of people with multiple sclerosis by introducing “RADIOMICS” and “EPOMICS.

Our ultimate goal is to improve the care of people with MS and speed-up prognosis and treatment of PwMS. We believe that identifying new biomarkers in MRI (RADIOMICS) as well as in EPTS (EPOMICS) using innovative machine learning techniques will support this ultimate goal.

We hypothesize that:° H1: RADIOMICS can support the identification of MRI lesions resulting in functional damage (“diagnosis”) ° H2: RADIOMICS and EPOMICS biomarkers can improve predictions of long-term disability progression (“prediction”) ° H3: RADIOMICS and EPOMICS biomarkers can measure progression more sensitive compared to the golden standards currently implemented in clinical care (“prognosis”)
